Louisiana Land Survey Drafting

Land Survey Drafting in Louisiana

Land survey drafting in Louisiana for Professional Land Surveyors and their firms. We turn your field data and title research into CAD boundary, subdivision, servitude, mineral unit, and right-of-way drawings, using your assigned survey class for your direction and review.

Overview

What is Land Survey Drafting in Louisiana?

We draft Louisiana boundary, subdivision, servitude, and mineral unit plats from your survey data and title research. Drawings may use river-front arpent calls or section, township, range, and land district references. We plot the evidence you supply and leave boundary interpretation with the PLS.

Land survey drafting in Louisiana follows the drawing type and Class A to D accuracy category you assign under Chapter 29. We prepare the certification, bearing basis, curve data, monument descriptions, and local filing format, then revise the CAD sheets to your check-print comments.

The LAPELS-licensed PLS retains responsible charge, including continuing input during preparation, final review, and required changes. Our land survey drafting services include arpent and section parcels and ALTA/NSPS land title survey plats. Professional services cannot be contracted to an unlicensed person; confirm the drafting arrangement before starting. The PLS signs, seals, and dates the final.

Mineral unitization plats showing supplied participants, tract limits, unit-perimeter bearings and distances, and explanatory notes for differing section and unit boundaries.

DOTD Right-of-Way Maps

DOTD right-of-way and post-construction monument location maps, with the applicable certification reserved for the responsible PLS.

Pipeline Route Survey Plats

Servitude Plats & Exhibits

Permanent and temporary servitude plats with supplied adjoining ownership and deed references, plus local assessor and conveyance details where required.

Topographic Survey Drafting

Topographic drawings with supplied contours, spot elevations, datum, and local flood information. Sheets that are not boundary surveys carry the required note.

Compiled as-built drawings with source and verification notes, plus utility, aerial, and LiDAR sheets from your data. Property-boundary mapping stays under the PLS’s responsible charge.

Why it matters

What LAPELS, Title 50, and local checklists ask of a plat

LAPELS sets the Chapter 29 survey and plat standards; Title 50 of the Revised Statutes governs coordinate systems. Supply the bearing basis, datum, zone, control references, and accuracy certification for the plat. We draft those decisions and notes into the sheet.

Local requirements affect the output. East Baton Rouge specifies its final-plat format and flood notes; New Orleans distinguishes existing and proposed lines; Shreveport uses city CAD templates and 3D coordinate data. Send the current checklist and template with your source files.

Louisiana’s legacy State Plane systems use North and South Zones assigned by parish. Name the zone used, including for a tract crossing the zone boundary.

Louisiana’s coordinate law and Board rules retain U.S. survey-foot provisions. State the system and conversion factor explicitly; do not silently change supplied coordinate units.

Keep legacy 1927 and 1983 data distinct from newer-system work. The PLS confirms the applicable reference system and release status before authorizing a change.

Use the benchmark and vertical datum your PLS confirms for the project. South Louisiana subsidence makes the age and source of vertical control material.

Use servitude terminology and the deed references supplied for the job. The PLS determines the property rights and boundaries represented.

Seals belong to individual licensees. Preliminary prints carry the applicable bold preliminary statement and the PLS’s identification; Arcengine returns unsealed drafting files.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Arcengine holds no LAPELS surveying license and supplies CAD drafting only. It does not survey, offer professional land surveying, or provide signed and sealed documents. The Louisiana PLS directs preparation, makes surveying decisions, reviews and corrects the work, and signs, seals, and dates the final. Property owners should hire and verify a Louisiana PLS.
